Signs of Spring!

Spring Equinox: as good a time as any to pause and reflect. A quarter of this year is under our belts and I have been reflecting that thus far, I've felt a lot of resistance. I wanted to write about it and explore it out loud, articulating thoughts on its roots and effects... but who wants to read a 'dear diary blog' ?!? Not I!

So instead I'm taking a cue from nature. Even after the snow storms and the really cold mornings; despite the frost that blankets the studio roof  early in the morning: tiny vibrant leaves and eager colorful buds are making themselves present all over Portland.

What a sage teacher nature is, if we just get quiet enough to listen, feel, see, and enjoy! So without further ado, without big promises or plans for how things will be 'from here on out,' I decided to simply slip back in & show back up.

Today, as I get ready to spend my day painting in the studio, I relax into the inexorable flow of life, and enjoy nature's version of the lesson.

So good to read your thoughts on spring and see your Helebores and other plants in bloom. We celebrated spring with a visit from grand-daughter Ashley and two friends. Such fun, we did calligraphy and watercolor when they were not cruising the Pearl. Off to Seattle next week to see the Gilhouly Museum and more family. Love, Bonnie

My dear Bonnie! I can only imagine how your garden is starting to take shape! You always have such lushness all around! A visit form Ashley and her friends sounds awesome! Did they leave you any of their creations? It is nearing that time we need to set our next date... after you get back from Seattle, let's get in touch about it! Love to you and Howard! xo

Every spring I am amazed by spring. Each year I am surprised by that simple truth.
