Inspiration, Sharing & Authenticity

1/20/2013

Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don't bother concealing your thievery –celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said; “ It is not where you take things from—it's where you take them to.” --Jim Jarmusch (stolen from a friend's friend on FB- March 2009).

I introduce to you Pearl and Limp Bizkit (aka William), my finished version of the Misfit Dolls.

Fighting inertia can be quite a battle. I long to spend time alone painting in my studio, but I benefit abundantly from interacting with other artists, learning, sharing, playing...
The solution? Online art classes.

Pearl and LimpBiskit are gorgeous!!! I am also doing Lana's incredible class and have uploaded a couple of pics of WIP's on my flickr. Cant wait to see more of

Sylvie! Thanks for stopping by and for the compliments. I am having such a blast with doll-making. Today I will probably finish the next three I've been working on. How do I find you on Flickr? I'd love to see what you've been up to! ~c

Obrigada, Dani!
I loved what I saw on your blog. Scrapbooking is something I haven't ventured into, and you have some lovely examples for when I am ready... :)
